Dealing with Grief

Dealing with Grief

A 4-hour Interactive Workshop

This workshop isn’t just about learning new information – it’s about creating a space where you can safely explore, share, and begin to understand grief differently, both personally and as a team. Below is a general structure and outcome, however the workshop is tailored to the needs of your organisation.

Workshop Format and Structure

  • This is a fully interactive workshop – while there are no breakout rooms, everyone will have opportunities to share and engage
  • The session adapts to participants’ needs – for example, if someone mentions specific concerns like panic attacks, we can explore coping strategies together
  • All team members are encouraged to participate equally to build an atmosphere of trust and to be able to learn from each other’s experience
  • A RAIN meditation may be included if time allows
  • The workshop will be delivered over Zoom

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will gain a broader understanding of different types of losses and their impact on individual life and mental health
  • Everyone will leave with practical resources and tools in the workbook to continue processing grief after the workshop
  • The team will develop skills to respond differently when others disclose losses, learning supportive approaches that benefit both the griever and the listener

First Half of the Workshop

We’ll begin by creating a safe, confidential space where everyone can participate fully. The session will introduce essential understandings about grief, challenge
common misconceptions, and explore how grief differs from depression.

This portion includes gentle interactive elements, and you’ll have opportunities to share and reflect in a supported environment.

Second Half of the Workshop

We’ll move into practical approaches, exploring various models of grief and,
importantly, learning tools for emotional honesty and self-care.

This section focuses on concrete strategies you can use both individually and as a team going forward.
